My interest in physical therapy began when I was 16 years old. My sister was in school for physical therapy and
I ended up being one of her guinea pigs for practice. I was instantly fascinated by what she was learning.
At 17, I began volunteering at Southern Tier Physical Therapy Associates, the largest and most respected sports
and orthopedic physical therapy center in New York's Southern Tier. Working alongside my sister, I learned
more about hands-on physical therapy in an outpatient setting and furthermore realized this was the direction
I wanted to take. A year later, I received the Regional New England Health Care Scholarship for academic excellence from the National Golub
Foundation.
At 20, I was accepted as the youngest member into the highly-competitive Master's Physical Therapy Program at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York.
I was educated and trained in the most advanced methods of physical therapy and participated in 5 long-term professional
affiliations including sports and orthopedic centers, rehabilitation clinics, trauma hospitals, and spinal cord
injury units.
After graduating in 2002, I moved to Boston to pursue my professional goals in a more metropolitan environment.
Performing Arts Physical Therapy in Brookline, MA, is where I started training in the rehabilitation of
musicians and dancers. Being a musician myself, this is one specialty of physical therapy I especially enjoy
and continue to work in.
In 2004, I opened Barkwell Physical Therapy to provide a higher quality of service for my clients in a comfortable and more fitness-oriented environment.
